How to build your own biogas plant.

It’s easier than you think. I was surprised that it worked right away. We’ve always had a lot of green waste in our garden, but the biggest was always the grass cuttings. When we mow the lawn, a really large amount of grass is produced, which the lawn mower collects and we throw on the compost heap. After just a few hours, the inside of this pile of grass becomes very warm, changes color from green to brown and starts to stink. This is the beginning of biogas. More information here in the blog.

In addition to solar, water and wind energy, biogas is a renewable energy source that helps save fossil fuels. The combustible gas is created when organic materials (plant and animal products) are broken down by bacteria in an oxygen-free environment. This process is called anaerobic digestion. Anaerobic means without air or oxygen. This is why the digestion on the compost heap does not take place on the surface, but inside the pile of grass.

As a family, we have thought about not leaving this biogas to the open atmosphere, but simply capturing it and storing it. Here we will tell you everything we have worked out and give you valuable tips on how to replicate it successfully.
